After weeks of preparatory work we are now really close to shipping the alpha version of the next release of RSS Bandit codenamed Phoenix. As you can see from the above screen shot, the key new feature is that you can read feeds from Google Reader, NewsGator Online and the Windows Common Feed List from RSS Bandit in a fully synchronized desktop experience.

This has been really fun code to write and I'm pretty sure I have a pending blog post in me about REST API design based on my experiences using the NewsGator REST API. The primary work items we have are around updating a bunch of the GUI code to realize that there are now multiple feed lists loaded and not just one. I estimate we'll have a version ready for our users to try out on the 14th or 15th of this month.

Your feedback will be appreciated.

Do you mean that items in say Google reader will be marked as read when you mark them in RSS Bandit?

Yes. Also if you click 'Share' in RSS Bandit it will be shared in Google Reader

Cool. What about Bloglines? :)

Bloglines doesn't have any API to support that level of integration as far as I'm aware. Also, I don't like the application much anyway.

There are some sync functions in the Bloglines API to retrieve a user's subscriptions and get items from their feed cache.

The Bloglines sync API does not enable you to build a full featured mail client style experience.

With Google Reader sync or NewsGator Online sync - will the sync occur automatically. I'm using a version of RSS Bandit where sync of my NewsGator feeds does not happen automatically (or I can't discover how to make it happen automatically).

This looks like a awesome release.

Brandon,
Unlike previous versions of RSS Bandit, sync will happen automatically like it does with FeedDemon + NewsGator or Outlook and Exchange.

Looks good, any progress with the "all feeds load on startup" issue?

Well, I moved back to Bloglines from Google Reader mostly because mobile version of Bloglines is much more usable than greader's. And beta.bloglines.com in general is better than G.Reader too, imho. I especially like a view-per-feed feature (selected view is remembered for each feed individually) cause not all feeds were born equal.

All that said I guess I wont be moving back to RSS Bandit soon :( Unless someone can suggest Windows Mobile RSS Reader with similar functionality (synchronization of read posts with google reader)
