Afterall, more than two candidates is really confusing. How Canada copes with a multi-party system I do not know. ;) I too would rather not see Bush re-elected, if you can call it that, but is it a good enough reason to support a democratic system based on polarization?

Canada can cope with multiple parties because they have a parliamentary form of government, where you elect who you want and the parties negotiate control in the parliament. 3rd parties will probably never succeed in the US because the system is ideal for 2. Once elected to congress, a 3rd party congressman has to go hat in hand to the 2 parties for anything, and really have no leverage to get anything done.
