Since we released the latest version of the Windows Live what's new feed which shows what's been going on with your social network at http://home.live.com, we've gotten repeated asks to provide a Windows Vista gadget so people can keep up with their social circle directly from their desktop.

You asked, and now we've delivered. Get it from here.

What I love most about this gadget is that a huge chunk of the work to get this out the door was done by our summer interns from 2008. I love how interns can be around for a short time but provide a ton of bang for the buck while they are here. Hope you enjoy the gadget as much as I have.

Critique:

When docked (i.e. small) there is too much wasted space at the top.

Docked or undocked thee is WAY too much wasted space at the bottom!

When you mouse over, you should stop the automatic scrolling. Very annoying when you are trying to read something complex.

It's a Microsoft gadget and is being released as such, yet the CAB is NOT signed by Microsoft. (very bad)

You've obfuscated the code, but did you know that you have also include the source code files (oops).

Other than that, it's pretty good. The smooth scroll is nice. Colors are pleasant. Source code is well written (although there are some semi-colons missing on function assignments).

All-in-all your interns did a great job!

Dare, this gadget gives an authentication failure when signing in with an @msn.com account. Custom Domains are fine.
