You're an asshole. That made absolutely no sense

I disagree.

Twitter is a stream of consciousness. I miss 90% of what is posted in Twitter. Gotta sleep sometime.

Reader provides a sorted and persistent list of updates that are unread until I read them, or do a mark all read. It tracks updates on blogs I read. Twitter doesn't track anything.

Twitter is fine for what it is, but it's no Google Reader.

Seriously, even discounting what I miss on Twitter when I sleep, I miss 60% of what's on Twitter during the day. For all of those who advocate Twitter as better than a Google Reader style-RSS reader, just how much of your day do you spend reading Twitter? Do you get anything else done?

I have to agree with adorno.

Yeah, you'd have invented Twitter, or tumblr. That's the whole thing I'm wrestling with. I think that the read-state syncing problem is quite solvable, but I keep wondering whether it's worth solving. There certainly seems to be a set of people out there that really want read states, but the way I used GR, I'd skim everything and save the stuff I really wanted to read. But that's kind of like using Pocket to keep a reading list.

I've also been reading way more on Flipboard than in GR per se, even though I've got a Google Reader page in Flipboard, I just like the reading experience better.

Misleading title. That was one thought, and it wasn't even a good one. Step it up, Dare-bear.

Also, I regrettably have no way to read this anymore after google reader goes away, so you'll need to start tweeting instead of blogging. Godspeed.

I have been only getting here over the years with RSS Readers; Google Reader being the most recent.

I wouldn't be here without google reader....
I wouldn't be reading this blog without it

And using twitter I would have missed 99% of the post of this blog...
And even that 1% that would come to my eyes in twitter.... probably I wouldn't have clicked to follow the link as I wouldn't know what it was about.
