Torsten just finished creating a German version of RSS Bandit. This should make it into the next release which should please our various German users. As Torsten mentioned we are looking for volunteers to do other languages. We will need at least two volunteers per language so that there can be some degree of error checking and the like.

To get started with translating RSS Bandit, only one file a number of files need translating and these include RSSBanditText.resx, the resource files for the main GUI, and the resource files for the various dialog boxes. An example of a translated version of that document is Torsten's German translation; RSSBanditText.de.resx.

Well, as I said I'd like to volunteer for Russian translation. So tell me if you get another one willing to translate it.
Basically IT-related translation is funny thing. Once I translated XPath spec into Russian and it wasn't easy beacause there weren't established Russian terms for XML terminology so I had to invent them :)

Dare isn't exactly right in the case only one file have to be translated, sorry. Each dialog window has it's own .resx file to be translated as well. Some are small and easy to work on, some are more heavy like the Options dialog. But to give a hint: It took two full days to translate all to german. Most time I'd used to prepare the whole project to be I8N aware. So it is not too expensive in time to get translated only.

Hi Dare,

I would like to volunteer for translation of RSS Bandit to brazilian portuguese.

Regards,

P.S.: I uninstalled RSS Bandit 1.2.0.90 a few days ago due to menu desapearance. After that, everytime I try to intall it again, the installer does not succeed and says "Undefined object reference to an instance of an object". Why 1) menu have disapeared and I was not able to have it back; 2) How can I workaround the installer problem?

Luciano,
We've seen this problem before and the workaround is described at http://www.rssbandit.org/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=128

I'll be working on the installer to make sure this kind of problem doesn't occur in future versions.

As for translations, the files that need translating are mentioned in my blog post. Ideally, we'd prefer having two people translate so there is some proofreading to catch typos and the like. However we'll still go with the translation if we don't get another translator.

Hi Dare,
VGA (http://weblogs.asp.net/vga - my friend and partner) and I would like to contribute the spanish translation. I have a SF account, it's dcazzulino. Should I checkout the CVS directly and then send the resx to you or are you thinking about direct commits to it?

Daniel,
The best thing is to send the translations to Torsten and I directly.
