XHTML 2.0

The first draft of XHTML 2.0 is out as announced on kuro5hin and numerous personal weblogs. This is probably one of the most unnecessary and unneeded standards I've ever seen proposed. I am in complete agreement with Joshua and this Slashdot post.

Most of the sites I use are just finally getting used to spitting out valid HTML 3.2 and HTML 4.01. A quick search of my bookmark list found only one of twenty five sites I visit on a weekly basis support any flavor of XHTML 1.0/1.1.

Yet the XHTML working group sees fit to perpetuate its continued existence by creating yet more standards and yet more confusion with the only benefits being giving web geeks new toys to play with.

Fear dot com

Am I the only one amused by the fact that Warner Bros. is releasing a movie called Fear dot com about a website named fear.com but they don't own the domain Fear.com?

Afghanistan War Syndrome

According to CNN since returning from the War on Terrorism: Afghanistan, 4 soldiers killed their wives in a 6 week span. Worries about battle induced stress abound.

I'm actually more worried about what's going to happen to all those pilots who've been prescribed amphetamines before going on bombing runs when they get back to the U.S. of A. I see shades of the movie Rambo.
I used to fly a 19 ton, multi-billion dollar piece of equipment while hopped on speed when I was in Afghanistan. Now I can't even light a joint or enjoy a nice drunken drive without facing 5 to 10.
